Disability Insurance Program (DIP)
Disability insurance pays a portion of your monthly earnings if you cannot work because of a disabling illness or injury that happens on or off the job. Employees hired into a position covered by the Delaware State Employees' Pension Plan (State agencies, courts, school districts, charter schools, Delaware Technical Community College, Delaware State University, University of Delaware, and Delaware Solid Waste Authority) are automatically enrolled for DIP coverage, administered by the Hartford. Enrollment includes coverage for short and/or long term disabilities. Once an employee is able to return to work, return to work assistance is available.

Life Insurance
The State of Delaware has partnered with Securian Financial to provide Group Universal Life Insurance benefits, a type of permanent life insurance with the option for tax-deferred cash accumulation. Benefit-eligible State of Delaware and DSWA employees are eligible to enroll.
