Natural Resources Police Trainee
Job Requirements
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- At least 20 and 1/2 years of age.
- Associates degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Sociology or related field.
OR
- At least 20 and 1/2 years of age.
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six months experience in conducting investigations which includes conducting interviews to obtain confidential information, gathering evidence and documenting findings.
- Six months experience in applying natural resources laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Six months experience in narrative report writing.
Conditions of Hire
Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DNREC does not provide sponsorship for holders of H-1 B Visas.
Pre-employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.
As a condition of hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
For admission to the State of Delaware Police Academy applicants who are made a conditional offer of employment shall be required to successfully complete State of Delaware Council on Police Training approved psychiatric/psychological exam, medical examination and a physical ability test to demonstrate fitness for duty.
To meet the Division of Fish and Wildlife's safety requirements, applicants for this position must successfully complete a baseline swimming assessment to demonstrate fitness for duty. See additional information concerning the Fish and Wildlife swimming assessment.
