DNREC Enforcement Divisions

DNREC’s Delaware Natural Resources Police is a fully sworn police department with statewide authority to enforce criminal law, hunting, fishing, boating and environmental laws and regulations. They serve Delawareans on waterways and land both public and private.

The Delaware Natural Resources Police (NRP) includes three specialized units that work to ensure public safety, investigate environmental crimes ensuring that Delawareans and visitors to the state can enjoy Delaware’s natural resources.

Environmental Crimes Unit

The Environmental Crimes Unit maintains a toll-free 24-hour Emergency Response Line 800.662.8802 for reporting environmental violations. All emergencies will be responded to immediately. For other environmental crimes, an officer will be dispatched during weekday work hours, or an officer will follow-up by telephone during off hours. If the incident reported is under other jurisdiction, callers will be directed to the best agency to respond.


Fish and Wildlife Unit

Fish and Wildlife Natural Resources officers patrol Delaware waterways, state wildlife areas and state-owned boating access areas, fishing ponds and piers. They protect wildlife and fisheries resources, promote boating education & safety, promote ethical hunting & fishing, respond to boating emergencies and are a partner in Delaware's Homeland Security maritime mission.


State Park Unit

The State Park Unit patrols Delaware state park areas, beaches, and campgrounds. They investigate violations of state park rules and regulations ensuring visitor safety. Our mission is to provide Delaware's residents and visitors with safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities and open spaces, responsible stewardship of the lands and the cultural and natural resources that we have been entrusted to protect and manage and resource-based interpretive and educational services.
