Job Types - Merit
MERIT Positions
The majority of positions in Merit Agencies are considered Merit Classified positions, which means that these positions, and applicants hired into these positions are subject to the rights, rules and regulations in accordance with the Merit Rules. Merit agencies post all Merit Classified positions on DEL.
EXEMPT (Non-Merit) Positions
Postings on DEL for these positions will state “This position is exempt from the State of Delaware Merit System.” Applicants hired into non-merit positions are not subject to the rights, rules and regulations governed by the Merit Rules. Merit agencies are not required to post their non-merit positions on DEL.
CASUAL/SEASONAL (Non-Merit) Positions
Postings for these positions reflect the type of recruitment as casual/seasonal. Applicants hired into such positions are not subject to the rights, rules and regulations governed by the Merit Rules. Merit agencies are not required to post their casual/seasonal positions on DEL.
Merit System Agencies
